Bayero University, Kano (BUK), has expelled 60 students from various departments for their involvement in examination malpractice, reaffirming the institution’s zero-tolerance stance on academic dishonesty.
The decision was reached at the university’s 43rd statutory Senate meeting held on January 7, 2026, following a thorough review of reports and recommendations submitted by relevant academic and disciplinary committees. The affected students were found guilty of violating BUK’s examination rules and regulations.
In a statement, the university emphasized that the sanctions reflect its firm commitment to upholding academic integrity and preserving the credibility of its academic processes and degree awards. BUK warned that it would continue to impose strict penalties on any form of examination misconduct as a deterrent to future violations.
The university noted that maintaining high academic standards remains a core priority, stressing that honesty and fairness are non-negotiable values within the institution.
This development is not an isolated action. In April 2025, BUK similarly expelled 62 students and rusticated 17 others for examination-related offenses, underscoring a consistent and sustained approach to combating academic malpractice.
BUK’s latest decision serves as a strong reminder to students of the serious consequences of examination misconduct and is expected to further promote a culture of integrity and discipline across the campus.
