Introduction

In a heart-wrenching turn of events, the University of Port Harcourt (UNIPORT) community is grappling with yet another tragic loss. The lifeless body of a 200-level Accounting student, Adaeze, was discovered in her off-campus residence in Aluu, a community near the university. The circumstances surrounding her untimely demise remain shrouded in mystery, as the cause of her death is yet to be ascertained.

A Grim Déjà Vu

Adaeze’s tragic passing comes as a painful reminder of the recent, harrowing incident that shook UNIPORT. Justina Otuene, a 300-level Biochemistry student, lost her life under distressing circumstances. She was allegedly murdered by her ex-lover, Damian Okoligwe. Justina’s decomposing body was discovered at Okoligwe’s residence along NTA Road, Ozuoba, in Obio/Akpor Local Government Area.

Campus Authorities Respond

The Dean of Student Affairs at UNIPORT, Chima Wokocha, has confirmed the heart-wrenching discovery of Adaeze’s lifeless body. He revealed that concerned neighbors brought her remains to the Chief Lulu-Brigss Health Centre within the university. It is important to note that Adaeze did not pass away in the university hostel but in her off-campus residence in Aluu.

The police have also been involved in the investigation, alongside the university management. The parents of the late Adaeze have been notified of this tragic incident. While the circumstances surrounding her death are still uncertain, the discovery of a bottle containing a mysterious substance near her side suggests a possible link to her passing.

UNIPORT Mourns

As the University of Port Harcourt mourns the loss of another promising student, the entire academic community is left with heavy hearts. The repeated tragedies within a short span have raised concerns about the safety and security of students, particularly those living off-campus. It is a somber reminder of the importance of safeguarding the lives and well-being of all members of the academic family.

Conclusion

The University of Port Harcourt finds itself once again in a state of mourning following the tragic passing of Adaeze, a young and hopeful Accounting student. The circumstances of her death remain unclear, casting a shadow of sorrow over the academic community. As investigations continue, the university, law enforcement, and the entire UNIPORT family join in collective grief, demanding answers and justice in the wake of these painful losses.
