Rivers State University (RSUST), one of Nigeria’s leading state universities, has officially released the much-awaited guidelines for the 2025/2026 Post-UTME and Direct Entry (DE) screening exercise. This annual screening remains a crucial step for every aspirant who dreams of becoming a student of RSUST. Understanding the cut-off mark, eligibility criteria, and registration details will help prospective candidates prepare adequately and avoid costly mistakes.

For the 2025/2026 academic session, the university has set its general cut-off mark at 190. This means that only candidates who scored 190 and above in the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) are qualified to apply. However, meeting the cut-off mark alone does not guarantee eligibility. RSUST maintains strict policies regarding first-choice selection; therefore, only candidates who chose RSUST as their first-choice institution during JAMB registration will be considered for admission. This ensures that only genuinely interested students compete for the available slots.

Academic qualification is equally important. All candidates must possess at least five credit passes in relevant O’Level subjects, obtained in not more than two sittings. Those who are awaiting results are permitted to apply but must clearly indicate their status during registration. Failure to provide accurate information may lead to disqualification, a scenario every candidate should avoid.

The registration window for the RSUST Post-UTME/DE screening exercise opens on Monday, July 14, 2025, and closes on Saturday, August 16, 2025. Candidates are strongly advised to complete their registration within this period to avoid last-minute issues that often arise when the portal is under heavy traffic. The registration fee remains ₦2,000, payable online using Interswitch or Verve-enabled debit cards. Payment must be made only through the official RSUST portal to avoid fraudsters who prey on unsuspecting candidates.

To register, candidates should visit the RSUST eCampus portal at ecampus.rsu.edu.ng and select the “2025/2026 POST-UTME SCREENING EXERCISE FOR ADMISSION” under the regular program section. After making payment, candidates will receive a unique PIN which they will use to log in and complete the registration form. Essential details like O’Level results, personal information, and a recent passport photograph must be provided accurately. After submission, candidates are expected to print out their screening slip which contains their exam schedule, date, time, and venue.

The actual screening exercise will take place using the Computer-Based Test (CBT) format. It is scheduled to begin on Monday, August 25, 2025, at the RSUST ICT Centre. Candidates are urged to arrive at least one hour before their allotted time to ensure they do not miss the opportunity, as late arrivals will not be admitted once the test begins. Parents and guardians are advised not to accompany candidates into the screening venue, as this is strictly prohibited by the university.

Once the screening concludes, results will be processed and published on the official RSUST website. It is the responsibility of every candidate to keep track of updates on the university’s portal. Successfully admitted students will later proceed with the internal clearance and departmental screening which finalizes their journey into the university.

In conclusion, securing admission into Rivers State University begins with passing the Post-UTME/DE screening. By understanding the cut-off mark, meeting the eligibility criteria, and following the registration guidelines diligently, candidates place themselves in the best position for success. With early preparation, honest information, and confidence, every aspiring student can take the first big step toward becoming a proud RSUST student.
