About the Mandela Rhodes Scholarship

The Mandela Rhodes Scholarship offers comprehensive funding for postgraduate studies (Honours and Masters degrees) at universities in South Africa. This scholarship continues Nelson Mandela’s legacy by empowering young African leaders with the competence and courage to transform the continent.

Eligibility Requirements

To qualify for the Mandela Rhodes Scholarship, applicants must:

• Be between the ages of 19 and 29.
• Be a citizen of any African country.
• Have a first degree with above-average academic results (minimum 70% or upper second-class).
• Have demonstrated leadership and impact in their campus or community.
• Be committed to self-development and willing to embrace diversity and complexity.

Mandatory Participation:

• Attendance at residential workshops and regional pods is required.
• Participation in the Mentoring Programme is optional.

Scholarship Benefits

The Mandela Rhodes Scholarship covers:
