The attention of the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Ndukwe J. Okeudo, and the Management of Abia State University, Uturu (ABSU), has been drawn to a false message spreading online. This misinformation claims that 100-level students must make fresh online payments, for GST and matriculation fees to complete their course registrations, even after paying earlier at the ABSU Microfinance Bank.

This claim is entirely false and has been fabricated by fraudulent individuals attempting to scam unsuspecting students and damage the University’s reputation. The Vice-Chancellor and no recognized authority in the University issued such a directive.

ABSU strongly debunks any news suggesting double payment for GST or matriculation fees. Students are advised to disregard any such messages that appear to come from the Vice-Chancellor’s office to avoid being defrauded.

The University’s Institute for Information and Communication (ICS) is actively harmonizing all payments, for GST and matriculation fees made through ABSU Microfinance to ensure smooth course registration. Students who have already paid at the bank should not pay again — there is absolutely no need for a second payment.

Anyone involved in collecting illegal fees or circulating false information should stop immediately or risk being apprehended and prosecuted according to the law.

The administration under Professor Ndukwe J. Okeudo maintains a strict zero-tolerance policy for extortion and any other illegal activities on campus.

All parents, students, and course representatives should take note of this clarification and stay vigilant
