Ogun State Police Command has arrested eight students from Ifo High School over alleged involvement in cult-related activities. The arrest was confirmed in a statement issued by the command’s spokesperson, CSP Omolola Odutola, on Saturday, March 22, 2025.

According to Odutola, the school’s Vice Principal, Mr. Alako Oluwole, and a teacher, Mr. Akinseku Oloruntoba Julius, reported a group of students engaged in cult activities, causing disruptions, and extorting valuables from their peers. Following the report, the Ifo Divisional Police Officer, in collaboration with school authorities, apprehended the eight students suspected to be part of a cult group known as the “Future Guys.”

Preliminary investigations revealed that the group was allegedly initiated by two senior students. The identities of the arrested students have been withheld as authorities continue their inquiry.

Speaking on the development, Odutola stated that an extensive investigation has been launched to assess the scale of cult-related activities in the school and prevent future occurrences. The students will be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for further interrogation upon the conclusion of preliminary inquiries.

The Commissioner of Police, CP Lanre Ogunlowo, has directed that the students be presented before him on the next working day for further interviews. In a bid to curb cultism among students, he also announced plans to introduce counseling and mentorship programs across schools in the state.

CP Ogunlowo reiterated his commitment to maintaining law and order in Ogun State and urged parents, teachers, and community leaders to collaborate in tackling the rising menace of cultism in secondary schools. He assured that decisive actions would be taken to safeguard students and educational institutions from criminal activities.

Undergragra Nigeria will continue to monitor this development and provide updates as more information emerges.
