Gregory University Uturu (GUU) is excited to share that, within just one month, we have welcomed over 100 exceptional individuals into the fields of Medical and Health Sciences through our successful induction ceremonies for Medical Doctors and Nurses.

On June 4, we celebrated our 3rd Medical Doctors’ Induction Ceremony, followed by the inaugural Nursing Induction Ceremony on June 25, 2025, which honored our first cohort of 21 graduate nurses.At the Nursing Induction, the Registrar of the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria, Alhaji Ndagi Alhassan, represented by Mrs. Eleanor Chinwe Nwaka, administered the Oath to the new inductees. In his address, the Registrar praised the university for its unwavering commitment to excellence and commended the dedication of its faculty. He encouraged the newly inducted nurses to embrace available opportunities and become exemplary representatives of the nursing profession.

During the ceremony, Prof. Gregory Ibe, the Founder/Proprietor, and Mr. Gregory Okechukwu Ibe (Jnr), the Chancellor, expressed their sincere appreciation to the entire Gregory University community and the public, congratulating the pioneer graduate nurses for their perseverance and hard work.

 

Prof. Ibe, represented by Deputy Vice Chancellor (Administration) Prof. Uwaoma Uche, urged the newly inducted nurses and midwives to adhere to the highest professional standards and to embody the spirit of our university’s anthem: “In every quest, we still remain the best.”

Prominent attendees included Prof. Augustine Uwakwe, Pro-Chancellor of GUU, A’Prof Elijah Efetobor, Director of Academic Planning, various College Deans, educators, and members of the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria.

The Vice Chancellor, Prof. Cele Njoku, represented by Deputy Vice Chancellor (Academic) Prof. Regina Ogali, encouraged the graduate nurses to become advocates and leaders within the healthcare sector, emphasizing their role as exceptional caregivers.

A’Prof. Chinyere Nwufo, Head of the Nursing Department, acknowledged the contributions of faculty and university management. She also requested the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria to increase GUU’s admission quota from 50 to 150, highlighting the university’s capability to train a larger number of nurses.

Agaptus Nichole, the Best Graduating Nurse and multiple award recipient, delivered a heartfelt speech during the ceremony. She expressed gratitude to her professors, family, and peers for their unwavering support throughout her education. Nichole emphasized the importance of compassion and dedication in nursing, encouraging her fellow graduates to strive for excellence in their practice and to always prioritize patient care.

The event concluded on a high note as the audience celebrated the achievements of the inductees and looked forward to the positive impact they would make in the healthcare community. The atmosphere was filled with joy, pride, and a sense of accomplishment as the new graduates embarked on their professional journeys, equipped with the knowledge and skills to excel in their fields.
