Job Description – Safety Officer
The Safety Officer is responsible for enforcing safety protocols, ensuring compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations, and preventing accidents in the workplace.
Key Responsibilities
✔ Conduct safety inspections and audits on facilities and equipment.
✔ Ensure proper use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) by all personnel.
✔ Train staff on safety procedures, emergency response, and hazard identification.
✔ Investigate incidents and recommend corrective actions.
✔ Monitor compliance with HSE regulations.
✔ Oversee fire safety systems, gas detection, and emergency evacuation drills.
Qualifications & Requirements
✔ Education: Bachelor’s Degree or HND in Safety Management, Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related field.
✔ Certifications: NEBOSH, HSE Level 3, or equivalent certifications.
✔ Experience: 2 – 4 years of post-NYSC experience, preferably in the oil and gas sector.
✔ Skills: Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and deep knowledge of safety regulations and standards.
