Federal University Lokoja Dismisses Four Lecturers Over Examination and Sexual Misconduct
The Governing Council of the Federal University, Lokoja (FUL), has approved the dismissal of four lecturers due to their involvement in examination malpractices and sexual misconduct.
The decision was made during the council’s Second Council Meeting, held on Thursday, following investigations into allegations against the lecturers, which surfaced last year.
Zero Tolerance for Misconduct
Senator Victor Ndoma-Egba, Chairman of the Governing Council, emphasized the university’s commitment to upholding ethical standards. “The council will not tolerate any unethical conduct in the university,” he stated.
He urged the university to expedite the handling of other pending misconduct cases, particularly one from the Faculty of Science currently trending in the media.
Encouraging Students to Speak Up
The council stressed that all forms of molestation, harassment, and unethical behavior would be met with stringent measures. Lecturers and staff were cautioned against any form of misconduct, while students were encouraged to speak out if they experience any form of molestation.
The leadership commended the university management for ensuring due process in investigating the allegations, resulting in the dismissal of the accused lecturers.
Message to Staff and Students
The council’s actions underline a strong commitment to creating a safe and ethical academic environment at FUL. Staff members were reminded of the university’s zero-tolerance stance on unethical practices, and students were reassured of the institution’s support in addressing any grievances or harassment.
This decisive action aims to deter future misconduct and reinforces the institution’s dedication to upholding integrity in academics and relationships within the university community.
