The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has officially set 150 as the minimum cut-off mark for admission into Nigerian universities for the 2025/2026 academic session. For polytechnics and colleges of education, the minimum cut-off mark remains 100, while Colleges of Nursing Sciences have their benchmark pegged at 140. The Jamb cut off mark for 2025 was disclosed by the JAMB Registrar, Professor Ishaq Oloyede, during the 2025 JAMB Policy Meeting held in Abuja on Tuesday.

Candidates should note that these figures represent the minimum JAMB cut-off marks. This means individual institutions are permitted to set their own cut-off marks above these thresholds but cannot go below the limits set by JAMB.

The policy meeting, which was attended by the Minister of Education, Tunji Alaussa, along with vice-chancellors, rectors, registrars, and other key education stakeholders, also reiterated that the acceptable minimum age for admission into any tertiary institution in Nigeria remains 16 years.

  1. Following the policy meeting, many public universities, polytechnics, and colleges are expected to begin the sale of their Post-UTME screening forms soon. Prospective students are strongly advised to stay updated with their preferred institutions’ official announcements regarding Post-UTME registration and requirements.
