ToggleJoseph Sarwuan Tarka University Emerges Champion of ENACTUS Nigeria 2025, Set to Represent Country at World Cup in Thailand
LAGOS, NIGERIA — The ENACTUS Team from Joseph Sarwuan Tarka University, Makurdi (JOSTUM) has once again claimed the top spot in the 2025 national ENACTUS competition, earning the honour of representing Nigeria at the upcoming ENACTUS World Cup in Thailand. This marks a consecutive victory for the university, which also won last year’s edition.
The event, which was part of ENACTUS Nigeria’s Silver Jubilee Anniversary celebrations, took place at the prestigious Civic Centre in Lagos.
Coming in second was the Ahmadu Bello University (ABU) Zaria team — a four-time national champion — which maintained its high-ranking performance, just as it did in 2024. Kaduna Polytechnic, another heavyweight and three-time champion of the competition, also participated alongside several other institutions including top universities and polytechnics from across the country.
Award for Longest-Serving Faculty Advisers
One of the highlights of the event was the presentation of special awards to long-serving Faculty Advisers who have demonstrated unwavering commitment to ENACTUS over the decades.

Professor MK Aliyu of ABU Zaria received the Longest Serving Faculty Adviser Award for his 21 years of dedicated service to ENACTUS ABU. Under his leadership, the team achieved significant national and international milestones.

Similar awards were presented to the Faculty Advisers of Joseph Sarwuan Tarka University and University of Calabar, who have also served for over 21 years, guiding their respective teams with consistency and excellence.
Professor Ibrahim Garba, former Vice-Chancellor of ABU Zaria, who was represented at the event by Prof. MK Aliyu, expressed his appreciation to ENACTUS Nigeria for the recognition. In an interview with Education Monitor, Professor Garba described the award as both “historic and memorable.”
“If given another opportunity to serve as Vice-Chancellor,” he said, “my heart and support for ENACTUS will remain a top priority.”
ENACTUS Nigeria’s Country Representative, Mr. Michael Ajayi, praised Prof. Garba for his exceptional support of the ENACTUS movement. According to him, during his tenure, Prof. Garba not only supported ABU’s participation in both national and international ENACTUS competitions but also played a key role in linking ENACTUS Nigeria with institutional partners and sponsors — many of whom remain reliable supporters to date.
First-Ever ENACTUS Nigeria ‘Best Vice-Chancellor Award’
In a historic move, ENACTUS Nigeria conferred its first-ever “Best Vice-Chancellor Award” to Professor Ibrahim Garba. Mr. Ajayi noted that among all Vice-Chancellors in the country, Prof. Garba stood out as the most ENACTUS-friendly and supportive in the organization’s 25-year history in Nigeria.
The celebration also saw awards given to institutional partners and long-time supporters who have contributed significantly to ENACTUS Nigeria’s success story over the past 25 years.
As the JOSTUM ENACTUS Team prepares to fly Nigeria’s flag at the 2025 ENACTUS World Cup in Thailand, stakeholders and education leaders across the country continue to applaud the enduring impact of the ENACTUS program in nurturing entrepreneurial leadership and social innovation among Nigerian students.
