Gastroenteritis outbreak at University of Guelph

Information came out that there was a Gastroenteritis outbreak at University of Guelph.
The number of reported gastroenteritis cases at the University of Guelph has surged to 190, as Wellington-Dufferin-Guelph Public Health revealed on Friday.

The outbreak started on Monday, and by Wednesday, the university reported 60 cases. The tally then jumped to 150 on Thursday, and now it has reached 190.

Dr. Nicola Mercer, Medical Officer of Health for Wellington-Dufferin-Guelph Public Health, emphasized that the current numbers only include confirmed cases. She predicted a significant rise in illnesses over the next few days.

Gastroenteritis symptoms, including vomiting and diarrhea, typically last between 12 and 24 hours. While public health officials have not confirmed the specific virus, they strongly suspect Norovirus.

The university linked most of the illnesses to South Residence, but off-campus cases have also been reported. Public health authorities are actively working with the university to curb the virus and prevent further infections.

We have created whatsapp groups for students all over the world for university updates, sharing of study resources, emotional support and even socializing as thousands of students are feeling depressed and are clueless about what they need to do to get by in college or university so support by sharing the link and click here to join.
